We try to protect our selves by hiding our most vulnerable parts, but then miss out on having fulfilling, authentic relationships. Early in life, we experience pain when others cannot not fully embrace us. To maintain connection, we adapt to expectations and a culture which rewards conformity. Then somewhere along the way—usually after a heartbreak , major loss, illness, or general life dissatisfaction, we begin to recognize patterns in our relationships and coping mechanisms that no longer benefit us. Healing comes when we boldly embrace our formative wounds and confront stories we’ve outgrown.

I approach psychotherapy from a systemic, attachment-based lens, as a witness, an aide, and a challenger for clients committed to making meaning in their lives.

“The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help.” -Irvin Yalom
